Patient: R.M.
Diagnosis: No trouble finding words, just trouble making sense of words. Often confused thoughts come out that do not pertain to actual thoughts.
Session:
- Point to the object named game
- wrote out words when couldn't catch them
- pronounced words slowly when couldn't find them
- Sang Happy Birthday
- Oftentimes doing something that you know and have been doing for your whole life helps to bring words to mind
- Opposite Game
- Father and ____, hot and ______
- Maria will take a couple second breaks and talk if he isn't getting it, this helps the patient to take his mind off of the task at hand. If the word doesn't come out after several repeated attempts, she'll just skip it.
- Count to 10
- Restart as often as necessary
- Sometimes he would jumble them, but most of the time he got all 10
- Maria wrote the numbers down in different formats; e.g. one, two, three, and 1,2,3
- Picture with Words Game
- Maria read the words when he would not get them
- Complete the Sentence (with 3 possible choices)
- Bake a _____, Drive a _____, Sing a _____.
- Maria read all of the choices out loud for patient.
- PATIENCE IS KEY!
